Redesign the current experience of Facebook's Birthday Fundraisers in 4 days

CONTEXT

The purpose of Facebook's Birthday Fundraisers is to enable users to raise funds for causes they care about and encourage their friends and family to participate as well

To improve this feature, I decided to begin by addressing the core issue. The more fundraisers available, the higher the chances of user engagement. Hence, my goal was to develop a streamlined, user-friendly, and intuitive process for everyone involved.

RESEARCH

Users were often unaware of how to access fundraisers, highlighting the need for a quick and straightforward fundraiser creation process

Considering the time constraint, I utilized personas, concentrating on Facebook's most prominent user group, individuals aged 25 to 35. Through my research, I discovered a strong demand for a quick and straightforward fundraiser creation process. Additionally, it became evident that many users were either unaware of birthday fundraisers or uncertain about how to use them.

Due to low visibility, users are often unaware of their ability to create and discover fundraisers
Users are unable to access fundraisers unless they specifically know to search for them. This presents a major challenge for potential donors, who wish to contribute to varying causes. The lack of intuitive navigation and visibility ultimately discourages users from actively participating in fundraising efforts.

This creates barriers for individuals who want to organize fundraisers tailored to their unique causes or interests. The complexity of the existing system discourages users from engaging in fundraising activities, as they are unable to personalize their campaigns to reflect their passions and values. 

THE DESIGN GOAL

To create a feature that not only, made fundraisers easily discoverable, but also personal and unique to each creator. Additionally, empowering individuals to create impactful fundraisers requires a more streamlined and customizable approach.

FINAL DESIGNS

By centralizing fundraisers and giving them equal prominence as Facebook Stories, visibility and efficiency were significantly improved

The fundraising process was completely redesigned to enhance user experience, resulting in a more streamlined, efficient, and interactive system Users can now conveniently access their own fundraisers, those of their friends, and any non-profit fundraisers they follow. Additionally, they can easily create personalized fundraisers, share them across platforms, and swiftly engage with donors. These enhancements not only enhance the visibility and distinguishability of fundraisers but also create a more intimate fundraising experience.

Users now have the flexibility to create fundraisers that align with their individual causes and interests. Whether they are passionate about supporting non-profits, celebrating birthdays, or championing local causes, users can personalize every aspect of their fundraiser experience. This includes customizing the visual aesthetics and overall ambiance of their fundraisers, ensuring that they authentically reflect their unique identity and values. Additionally, the platform allows for easy visibility of donors, enabling users to identify top contributors and express heartfelt gratitude for their generous contributions.

Fundraisers have taken center stage with improved visibility and efficiency. By giving fundraisers equal prominence as Facebook Stories, they are now centralized, making it easier for users to access their own fundraisers, as well as those of their friends and the non-profit fundraisers they follow. Additionally, users can seamlessly share fundraisers across multiple platforms and quickly engage with donors. These enhancements not only enhance the visibility and distinguishability of fundraisers but also create a more intimate and engaging fundraising experience.
Streamlined Process
The process of creating fundraisers has been streamlined into four easy steps, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for users.The platform now serves as a one-stop shop, providing creators with easy access to manage their existing fundraisers, create new ones, and review past fundraisers and donations. Furthermore, an interactive bar visually represents the amount raised, progressively growing with each contribution, providing a real-time and engaging representation of progress.
